1. Toast to the Coast
Running for over 17 years, Toast to the Coast is Geelong’s iconic Wine Festival.
Held over the Melbourne Cup long weekend, it showcases the best wines and gourmet food from around the Surfcoast, Moorabool Valley and Bellarine Peninsula.
Toast to the Coast offers guests the chanced to taste, drink and eat their way across a selection of award-winning wineries while enjoying the picturesque vineyard settings.
Wineries close to Torquay include Miya Winery, Mount Duneed Winery and Bellbrae Estate. Wineries in the region offer a range of white, red and fortified wines from a selection of locally grown grapes.
The Bellarine Peninsula has a number of wineries with our favourites being Bellarine Estate, Terindah Estate and Basils Farm. If you are heading to the Moorabool Valley, it is worth visiting Clyde Park Estate, (great wood-fired pizzas) and Lethbridge Winery.
Tickets include unlimited entry to Toast to The Coast winery events and a commemorative Geelong wine glass which doubles as your passport to free wine tastings at all host vineyards.
Tickets are $40 for one day, $60 for both days with a limited number of Early Bird Tickets on offer.

2. Spring Racing Carnival
Torquay is a mere 22km from Geelong and a great base to stay during the Spring Racing Carnival.
There’s a number of races on at the Geelong Racing Club including Friday Race Days, Sunday Race Days and the Audi Girls on Track Race Day.
The Geelong Cup is a major curtain raiser to the Melbourne Cup and one of the favourite races in the Spring Racing Calendar.
The fashions on the field is the chance for the finest dressed ladies from around the country to show off and the prize money is substantial – well worth entering!
The Geelong Cup usually finishes for many back on the busses to the local nightclubs and bars; without a thought that it’s only Thursday but you’ll be on holidays so who cares?

3. Melbourne Cup Festival & Sidewalk Sales
Every Melbourne Cup Day, Central Geelong comes alive with a Festival and Sidewalk Sales.
Businesses across Central Geelong set up stalls on the sidewalk offering a huge range of special offers and sales items; you are guaranteed to pick up a bargain!
It’s Geelong’s biggest shopping day of the year where you can also enjoy a long lunch with great deals on offer at many restaurants or grab something light from a street vendor and be entertained by the many buskers.

4. White Night Geelong
The streets of Geelong ‘light up’ during White Night Geelong with a night of art, music and performance.
Inspired by the international Nuit Blanche (White Night) in Paris, more than 20 cities around the world now participate in the festival reflecting each city’s distinct passions.
Being only 22kms from Torquay, Serenity Torquay is the perfect accommodation option for Geelong events.

5. Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie
Attention sweet tooths!
Just 10 minutes from Torquay is the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie which is is open daily 9am – 5pm.
A must visit, they also hold regular special events.
Until mid-September, enjoy a High Tea with a delightful selection of decadent petite fours, scones, ribbon sandwiches, pastries, barista coffee, organic tea and real hot chocolate!

6. Surf Coast Century 100km ultra marathon
Imagine running at the foot of some of Australia’s tallest coastal cliffs, while the low tide of the ocean laps the sand at your feet.
The Surfcoast Century is a unique run including a 100km or 50km ultra marathon.
With those distances, you’ll deserve to relax back in the hot tub back at your Serenity Torquay Accommodation.

7. Torquay Cowrie Market
Starting in September, the Torquay Cowrie Market is on the third Sunday of every month.
Home grown, home made, local art and craft with a ‘beachy’ vibe, this popular market is a short stroll from Serenity Torquay Accommodation. Food stalls and live music make it well worth the visit.

Presented by Pricky Moses Beer the Otway Oktoberfest is a chance to dust of your dirndl and lederhosen and get yodelling to some traditional Oompah music.
And if you didn’t experience enough yodelling and slap dancing at the Otway Oktoberfest, you can come back for more at Oktoberfest Geelong.

9. Birregurra Festival and Art Show
The best country festival in the region! The annual Festival is a chance to experience country fun in Birregurra hinterland township, just a 35 minute drive from Serenity Accommodation Torquay.
A petting farm, pony and camel rides, stunt pigs, show dogs and reptile shows have been a part of the Birregurra festival over the years.
Experience the best country cooking with loads of food stalls, local breweries and wineries.
Entertainment includes live music – folk, pop, rock and country – roaming magicians and a huge market.

10. The Geelong Show
The Royal Geelong Show is regarded as Australia’s biggest 4-day agricultural show, bringing together the finest animals from the region, a wide variety of carnival rides, show bags and fun for the whole family.
The show grounds is also home to an historic collection of steam machinery and the Geelong Show is a fantastic opportunity for them to be started up and awe the huge crowds.
Dusk sees carnival rides glow and lightshows with a traditional fireworks display attracts thousands of spectators.
No trip home is complete without a hand full of show bags from the Bertie Beetle Chocolate bag to the latest superhero, it’s hard to stop at just one.
